Es Migjorn Market
Throughout the summer months the local village of Es Migjorn, just outside of Santo Tomas has a Tuesday night market with various stalls selling jewelry, art, speciality food, drink and more. At night the town hosts musical events, an early and late show to entertain the holidaymakers and locals Occasionally a horses parade towards the other end of the town.
To ensure you get there on time dedicated Es Migjorn market buses run to ferry holidaymakers from Santo Tomas to Es Migjorn. Fittingly with the islands transport, the buses are limited with two specific buses running at 20:00 and 20:30, and returning at 23:00 and 23:30 – costing roughly €1.25 one way. The non dedicated buses that also stop at Es Migjorn can be found here, these buses end point are generally either Maó or Ciutadella, but stop at Es Migjorn en route – costing roughly €1.25 one way.
Visiting the local village brings the benefits you’d expect with cheaper prices (for food and drink), the chance to meet locals (many of which speak English) and the opportunity to try authentic Spanish Tapas.
Es Migjorn has various bars dotted around the town, with a couple directly opposite the bus stop for easy access. As you venture towards the town square you’ll come across one or two more bars, most notable Bar Peri (which is recommended by many locals), located towards the rear of Es Migjorn – 50 metres behind the town square.
