Here you’ll find a plethora of information on the resort of Santo Tomas on the island of Menorca, in addition to plentiful information on the various other resorts on the island of Menorca, such as Cala n Forcat and Cala Galdana
Santo Tomas is located on the South of the island of Menorca. A small tourist village caressing the coast near larger town of Es Migjorn Gran. Surrounded by hills, trees and woodland area. A quiet resort with many of the restaurants and bars closing around 11:30pm.
First of all, Santo Tomas, Menorca is predominantly dedicated to tourism. Because of the many apartments, villas and restaurants. The vast majority part of the Set Hotels Group. However, you can still find plenty of apartments and villas on websites such as Jet2Holidays, On the Beach and Icelolly.com among others, e.g. AirBnB.
The population of Santo Tomas is relatively low with many workers commuting daily from neighbouring villages and towns such as Ferreries, Es Migjorn Gran and Es Mercadal. Population swells somewhat during the popular summer months, with many tourists coming from England and more recently, Italy, France and Germany.
Just 25 km from the airport makes Menorca transfers from the airport a breeze and local cabs relatively cheap. Options are available to collect a pre-booked hire car up from the airport.
Forged by one main street running through the town and a promenade running along the very front of the resort. Along this promenade you’ll find small decking routes to the beach. You can find small shopping areas at either end of the resort that offer everything you need for your stay. But be aware that prices can be quite expensive within the resort. Our top tip would be to get the bus, or drive to the next village, Es Migjorn Gran and shop there. With the money you’ll save it will be worth the couple of hours it takes. Within the shopping areas of Santo Tomas, you’ll find a bakery, supermarket, cafe’s, doctors and souvenir shops.
The restaurants on offer in Santo Tomas are considerably generous considering it’s size. From the restaurants within the hotels, such as the Victoria Playa Hotel, the Sol Beach House Menorca Hotel and the Hotel Santo Tomas to the standalone restaurants such as Es Pins, Es Bruc and Don Tomas. All provide various foods on offer to cater for the English and Mediterranean palette.
If you fancy something more active when staying in Santo Tomas, canoes, paddle boards and pedalos are all available for hire on the beach (the section near the boardwalk close to Las Dunas). You can book organised canoe excursions too, and the office is located behind the 1st set of shops (next door to the Hotel Santo Tomas).
Menorca as an island has many walking paths too. You can identify these paths by short wooden stumps with small white plaques on the top. The walks to Cala Galdana, Son Bou and Es Migjorn are all visibly sign posted. Since it can get quite hot during the summer, avoid midday walking. In winter you’ll find temperatures are much more bearable.
